YOU Are Your Most Valuable Asset

As 2020 comes to a close, I’m finding myself reflecting on all that’s happened this year.  Life as we knew it turned totally upside down, and we’ve had to find our new groove in this new world.  I’ve thought a lot about where I was, going into the pandemic, where I am now, and where I’m going.

I realized that I’m emerging from this even stronger and more connected to myself than ever before.  In many respects, 2020 has been the best year of my life.  How is this possible, especially while we’re living in a landscape where stress and uncertainty are at all-time highs?

Here’s how:  I’ve invested in myself for years.

I’ve designed a life that is so centered around staying aligned with who I am and my commitment to myself and this world, that I am insulated from external factors throwing me off my game.  I’ve built such a solid foundation that I can thrive under any circumstance.

You can do this too.  Read on to hear how deciding to invest in yourself is the best decision you’ll ever make.

You Have Everything You Need Within You

I know that no matter what is going on around me, I have everything I need within me, and you do too.

What you need to understand is that I’m not unique here. I don’t have some crazy superpower that other people don’t have.  I’m just like you.  I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again. I’m a spiritual awakener.

Here’s a little excerpt from SOAR, where I remind my readers of their innate greatness:

“You have to be willing to look in the mirror and say to yourself, “I am the one who is responsible for getting myself through this,” and that may sound and feel like a daunting task.  The good news is that you already have everything you need within you.  You always have.  You are limitless beyond measure and powerful beyond your wildest dreams.  You’ve just been directing your time and energy toward things that are stifling your personal power rather than unleashing it.  A lifestyle rooted in superficial pursuits may fill you up today, or it may fill you up through next week, but it won’t provide the type of long-lasting fulfillment or happiness that will sustain you for the long haul.  I know.  I’ve been there.  I pulled out all the stops trying to find it.  I finally have, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to share my experiential journey with you so that you may become empowered to take your life by the reigns and get to a place where you feel the flow of Universal Energy coursing through your veins every moment of every day.”

What gets in the way of stepping into our greatness and claiming our power is one simple thing … we dedicate our time and attention to things that don’t move us forward.

As we prepare for 2021, how are you envisioning yourself?  Where do you want to be?  What do you want your life to look like, and more importantly, feel like?

I believe we live in a world where anything is possible, and what you want can be achieved by making investments in yourself.  Everything comes to you through you, and the world responds to your values from within.

Life’s all about learning to pivot, and reframe, and flow, and you can harness your power in any situation if you make investments in yourself along the way.

What’s Your Most Valuable Asset?

When you ask people this question, most think of assets in terms of “things.”  A house, a car, a bank account, a possession.

Here’s the correct answer:  YOU.  You are your most important asset.  Everything in this world stems from the relationship you have with yourself and is directly related to the investment you have made in yourself.

Give Yourself Permission to Invest in YOU

When we have limited time, self-care and self-improvement are often last on the list.  Why?  Because life is busy.  We all have lots of responsibilities, between jobs, houses, families, and everything else, and we often put ourselves last on the list.  We may feel that it’s unnecessary to spend time or money on ourselves, and may even feel a little guilt.

I know I did, for years. I had an on-again, off-again relationship with personal trainers.  I’d work out with a trainer for a few months, then stop because I felt like I had enough routines to repeat on my own and couldn’t justify the expense.  Every time I stopped, I experienced the same pattern … backsliding.

After several cycles of starting, stopping, and backsliding, over and over and over again, I finally said, “I need to view this as an investment, not an expense.”  That was a game-changing moment in my life because I just accepted it as part and parcel of what I needed to do to keep myself healthy and in the shape I wanted to be.  I assumed I could just do it on my own because I had lots of information available to me, and hadn’t given myself the license to invest in myself.

The Value Is in the Curation

I did not realize during this experience what I was struggling with most, information overload.  Yes, I had lots of prior routines I could repeat. Yes, I knew proper lifting forms.  I had access to countless internet videos and new routines.

But what I really needed most was for someone to “curate” for me.  Motivation has never been an issue for me.  Accountability hasn’t gotten in the way.  It was all about the curation.  It was all about handing over this aspect of my life to a professional who could simplify it for me so I could save my creative energy for other things.

We live in an age where information is so readily available, to the point that it’s overwhelming. Anything we want to learn about is just a quick internet search away, and we find ourselves trying to sift through pages and pages of information, looking for the hidden gem of information that we need.

It’s interesting to see how things have changed over the years – people used to pay for access to information;  now people are paying to have information simplified, and curated for them.

Where in your life could you offload the curation to someone else, so that you have the time and energy to dedicate to your area of expertise?
