How would you describe your lifestyle? First, do you prioritize your health and well-being? Second, do you tend to all aspects of your wellness…mind, body and spirit? Third, do you feel energized and full of vitality?
If not, no worries, I got you!
In this article, I’m going to give you some ideas for creating a lifestyle that focuses on the three pillars of wellness…mind, body, and spirit.
In my book SOAR, I share my thoughts on living a holistic lifestyle and give ideas for designing one. Here is a broad-brush description of a holistic lifestyle, straight from SOAR:
“Holisticism is a multi-faceted endeavor that takes a mind/body/spirit approach to self-care. It’s very much a proactive and preventative way of living and focuses on keeping all aspects of your being in optimal operating condition. Remember, it’s about making mindful decisions about what you consume, which not only includes food but also encompasses thoughts, people you spend time with and activities.”

Benefits of Living a Holistic Lifestyle
There are many benefits to living a holistic lifestyle. You’ll look better, feel better, and attract better. You will be healthier. And you’ll have more energy.
In SOAR I share my experience with living a holistic lifestyle:
“By incorporating new holistic lifestyle practices, you will gain the courage to stand unabashedly in your truth and in doing so your magnetism and zest for life will encourage others to do the same.”
In the next few sections, I’m going to give you a menu from which you can sample new lifestyle practices. Try on some new things and see what works. There is no one size fits all approach. The exciting part is that you have the license to be as creative as you wish to be. Remember to have fun, and enjoy what you discover about yourself along the way.”
Nurturing Your Body
There are many ways to nurture your body. Try incorporating a few of these into your routine this week and see how they make you feel. Remember to get clearance from your doctor or other professionals if you have any special health considerations. Here are a few ideas:
- Exercise
- Stretching
- Drinking plenty of water
- Eating fruits, vegetables, nuts and seeds
- Sweating in a sauna
- Getting sufficient sleep
- Minimizing stress levels
- Taking Epsom salt baths
- Exfoliating your skin
- Getting regular massages
- Using essential oils
Start dedicating some time each day to nurturing your body. As you prioritize your self-care, you will notice positive changes and naturally crave certain activities because they make you feel amazing.
Nurturing Your Mind
We all have certain tendencies when it comes to our thought patterns, influenced by many factors – our life experiences, our environment, and societal conditioning, to name a few. It is important to realize that our thoughts play an instrumental role in the way our life unfolds. Here is a little excerpt from SOAR:
“Our minds are so incredibly powerful in creating our own realities. Our thoughts have a vibration and the laws of the Universe are at work behind the scenes turning these thoughts into things in our physical world. We must first become aware of our own thoughts and then make strides to re-frame them so that they are productive and in line with the realities we create for ourselves.”
There are many ways to nurture our minds. Here are a few to get you started:
Growth-based mindset – get in the habit of asking yourself “What can I learn from this?” Every experience is an opportunity to learn about ourselves and grow.
Positive self-talk – speak to yourself kindly! Tell yourself things like “I am doing the best I can. I’m a better person than the person I was yesterday. I am appreciative of everything I have. I am getting stronger every day.
Daily affirmations – start each day off on a positive note! Tell yourself things like “I am kind, I am strong, I am brave, I am happy, I am positive, and I am loved. I am patient.” Your day will start to respond to what you tell yourself.
The majority of my book SOAR surrounds mindset and shows how you can re-frame any experience as a lesson in growth. Remember, life happens for us, not to us.
Nurturing Your Spirit
SOAR takes you on a spiritual journey and shows the importance of connecting to who you are:
“Engaging in spiritual practices allows us to reconnect with our own divine essence. Universal Energy is something we all can access, and the good news is that it’s unlimited and it’s free. There are several practices that we can incorporate into our daily routines that allow us to connect to this abundant Source Energy.
There are many ways to enhance our spirituality. Here are a few ideas to get you started:
- Yoga
- Spending time in nature
- Meditation
- Trusting the process
- Journaling
- Breathwork
- Expressing Gratitude
- Living in the Moment
