What’s Your Big Idea?

I’ve always loved the idea of big ideas.

So much so that back in the day, after working long days at my corporate job as an actuary, I used to come home and binge-watch the CNBC show, The Big Idea.

The Big Idea, hosted by the Queens-raised marketing and advertising mogul Donny Deutsch, featured business leaders and their big ideas, illustrating their path to success.

And now I’ll ask you…What’s YOUR big idea?

This week I’m inviting you to revisit one of YOUR big ideas.

I know you have them. I know you’ve had several inventive ideas pop into your head over the years, but something always seemed to get in the way.

Fast forward for a minute.  You’re in your mid-80s, and you’re sitting on a rocking chair on your front porch, thinking about the “good old days.”   You’re mostly satisfied with the choices you’ve made for yourself, well, except for that.  That big idea that you had way back when, that you never pursued.

You can’t help but wonder what it could have turned into.  How it could have changed so many lives over the years, over the decades.  How it could have been the legacy you left behind – that indelible mark that made the world a better place.  That innovation that enhanced the life experience for so many people.

Your big idea could be anything.  The most important thing is that it’s meaningful to you. Not everyone is meant to scale corporations into the billions, but everyone is always invited to reach for bigger things.

You regret letting things get in the way.

Fear of failure held you back.  But now you have the wisdom to know that there’s no such thing.

Naysayers held you back.  But now you have the wisdom to know how to surround yourself with people who lift you up.

Self-doubt held you back.  But now you have the wisdom to know that you get more of what you think about, so you put your energy into believing in yourself and your idea instead.

Lack of clarity held you back. But now you have the wisdom to realize you never really did have to have it all figured out in the first place.  All you needed to do was show up every day with an open heart and open mind, and the universe would illuminate the way.

Apprehensions around not doing it the way it “should be done” held you back.  But now you have the wisdom to realize that it has nothing to do with what it looks like from the outside, and everything to do with what it feels like on the inside.

The assumption that you could do it “someday” held you back, but now you have the wisdom to know that nobody’s tomorrow is guaranteed, and the time to do whatever it is that you’re passionate about, is NOW.

NOW you get to come back to the present day.  With a new perspective. With an opportunity to take the road not taken.  A new chance to sit on your front porch and do a reflection, but this time, it’s anchored on possibilities.

And so now I’ll ask you again… What’s YOUR big idea?  And what’s stopping you?

Big ideas often come to us in surprising ways, sometimes during challenging periods or when we least expect it.  The best thing you can do is be open, ready, and let your intuition guide you.  The universe will reveal it to you organically through your life experiences.

I help people bring their big ideas to life every day. From day-to-day big ideas like living a healthier lifestyle, to grand-scale ideas that revolutionize the world, this is your space to bring them to life.
