What does it mean to be grateful? What does the word “gratitude” mean to you? Today’s guest, Georgian Benta has based his life around the idea of gratitude and how it allows you to be more positive, uplifted and free.
Georgian is the host of the “Gratitude Podcast”, in which he guides listeners from all over the world on how to live a grateful life. Through interviews with various spiritual leaders, coaches and colleagues, Georgian is able to give a new perspective to the meaning of gratitude and how it can change your life for the better.
A Sign From the Universe
What got Georgian to this stage in life? Prior to starting his podcast, he was struggling to keep his business alive and barely had enough money to pay his rent. As he walked by the riverside in his home of Cluj, Romania, not knowing what to do next, he prayed that God would give him a sign.
As he walked, an overwhelming sense of gratitude came over him. He felt himself change physically and mentally, becoming appreciative for every small thing in his life: his city, his apartment, the people in his life. He had an epiphany. Gratitude was the answer to living an authentic life and he wanted to share that message with the world.
Spirituality for the Practical Mind
Georgian describes gratitude as the mother of all virtues. It is the gateway to living a life filled with happiness, appreciation and love. While many see spirituality as a religious or impractical path to follow, Georgian says living a life full of gratitude allows everyone to tap into their spiritual side, even for the most logical and practical thinkers.
For someone who wants to take that first step, Georgian says the best thing to do is live in the present moment. Ground yourself in the moment with a deep breath or a personal affirmation (you’ll see an example on today’s podcast!).
He also emphasizes the importance of balance. While negative things always find their way into our lives, it is essential to acknowledge them but to focus on the positive aspects of life first. Living life in positivity makes it easier to resolve negative thoughts.
