Align Your Purpose, Passion, and Profession

I believe the space where your purpose, passion, and profession intersect is a magical place.  When you find that place, hang out there for the rest of your days.

There’s really no earthly experience that could even come close to matching the feeling that space provides.

It’s pretty easy to check two of three boxes, but going for all three is next-level.

You love fishing, so you take a job selling fishing equipment.  But is that your purpose?

You know your purpose is helping people, but you’re number-crunching all day because it pays the bills.

You’re passionate about all things healthy lifestyle, but you’re CEO of an alcoholic beverage company.

Misalignments between who we really are and what we do have hefty costs, both short-term and long-term.

Apathy, overwhelm, and burnout, to name a few, result from the day-to-day exhaustion that comes from the weight of showing up differently to suit your surroundings.

Connection with your purpose provides a never-ending source of fuel.  It’s like you’re backed by a source of energy – otherworldly energy that you didn’t even realize existed.  It just keeps fueling you, a well that never runs dry.

When you’re tapped into who you really are and putting that out into the world, you’ll never “work” a day in your life.

The drive comes from within.

Intuitive ideas come effortlessly.

Here are a few questions for you to reflect on, and I’m also sharing my reflections to show you how they inform the reality I’ve co-created (with the universe, of course).

What life experiences have made the biggest impact on you?

For me – unequivocally, my most challenging life experiences.  Losing a child and my divorce.  The first stripped me to my core, prompted me to do my spiritual work, and 13 years later, the universe said it’s time to get down to business and uncork your work into the world.  And here we are five years later. 🙂

What are you doing when you’re so immersed that you lose track of time?  (Sleeping doesn’t count).

For me – being of service to others and writing/working on content.

What’s the one thing you always come back to as you process life?

For example, for me, it’s spirituality.  I joke that the universe won’t even let me go to the grocery store without having some sort of profound experience.  Sometimes, I’m like, “Universe, could you pleeeeease let me have one day that isn’t so deep?”  I’m wired to find deeper meaning and purpose in every experience and leverage it to empower leaders.  I just can’t turn it off (and wouldn’t want to).

Another example – a comedian.  They see the world through the lens of humor and package it up in a way that brings joy and laughter to others.

What lights you up the most in life?

For me – connection.  With myself and others.  Through self-care on all levels, conversation, get-togethers, food, and fun.

And last reflection question…

Is what you do an extension of who you are?

For me – HELL YESSSSS!!

As you observe what bubbles up from reflecting on these questions, resist, and I repeat, RESIST the urge to be your own naysayer or talk yourself out of something.  Don’t worry about how outlandish it sounds.

I help alphas embrace spirituality.  I mean, does it get any more outlandish than that?  What’s more, people have actually said to me, “That’s like oil and water.  They don’t go together.”  To which I say – that’s what YOU believe.  I believe in the unlimited upside that’s created when we blend the two.

Pay attention to what’s coming straight from your soul, and do more of that.  When you do, the universe will back you all day long.  I am proof of that in human form, and I’d love to help you get there, too.

If you’d like to explore this more with me, I’d love to.  Grab a time here.
