Wanted to let you all know that I am in loooove! with my new morning routine.
By now you may have heard me talk about all the stress in the air in recent months — energetically speaking, there’s chaos in the cosmos. I recently wrote about how certain things in my life were shattering, quite literally. I knew that what I was experiencing in the physical world was symbolic of what was going on behind the scenes — old paradigms were breaking down, antiquated methods of operating were falling away and things that didn’t serve me were exiting my life.
The universe was clearing out what didn’t serve me. It’s part of growth and transformation, and absolutely necessary to graduate to the next level. I knew all that, but it wasn’t easy to go through. Truth be told, some days I was literally in tears, feeling like every time I got up, I’d just get knocked back down again.
I know I usually don’t put myself out there like this, but if I’m going to ask you to be vulnerable, I need to be as well. We can’t just talk the talk, we need to walk the walk. We all do. As leaders, as caregivers, as bosses and as leaders of others in any capacity, we often feel like we need to stay strong and not let our emotions show. First, it’s okay to say you’re not okay. Second, it’s okay to say you’re stressed. And third, it’s okay to ask for help. It’s ok.
I’ve been through phenomenons like this many times before, and I know there’s always a rainbow after the storm passes. I trust the process and keep reminding myself that life is happening for me, not to me.
Each period of intense pressure has always given rise to something great. During those challenging weeks, I thought a lot about what I needed to do to break out of it and transcend to the next level. I knew that I couldn’t just sit and wait for the storm to pass, but I needed to actually do something — actually put my energy toward spiritually-aligned action steps. That said, I’d like to introduce you to… wait for it… my new morning routine.
I’ve always loved to get up early, but I’ve gotta say, I’ve never sprung out of bed with the energy and enthusiasm that I have right now. That’s because I have a morning routine that nourishes all aspects of me — physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually.
Designing Your Morning Routine
First, let me just say that morning routines, and the rest of our lives for that matter, are highly individualized. There isn’t a one-size-fits-all approach that suits everyone. What works for some may not work for others. The fun part is discovering what works for you by trying different things on.
My morning routine nourishes me on all levels — physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually, and I adjust and adapt my morning routine based on what’s going on in my life. For example, right now, I am doing the 75 Hard Challenge, which is a mental toughness challenge for 75 consecutive days, so some of what I’m doing is specific to that.
Here are some components of my morning routine. I’d like you to view this as a menu. Pick and choose which aspects resonate with you and adjust them so they best serve you. And yes, this does take me a long time, but I love every minute, and I feel amazing when I’m done.
Write out my list – Yes, I manually write out my list for the day every morning.
Unplug from technology – No phone allowed until I’m done with my morning routine.
Candle – I love lighting my beeswax candle.
Workout – 45 minutes. Run outside or lift at the gym.
Liquid fuel – Get my drinks ready for the day — water bottles, protein shake, green detox juice, detox tea.
Vitamins and supplements
Progress picture – nothing shows your progress quite like a pic! It’s bikini season year-round here.
Dinner – Decide on a healthy recipe to make for my family.
Appreciation – I dedicate a few minutes to appreciate what’s important in my life.
Dream big – I spend a few minutes each morning in the future. It’s part of how I manifest.
Read – Read 10 minutes of a personal development book.
Daily affirmations – I am healthy, I am strong, I am love…
Reflection –
Where in my life am I thriving?
What made me feel stressed yesterday?
Where do I need additional support?
How do I feel about how I showed up as a mom, as a spiritual awakener?
Did I communicate assertively yesterday?
Who and how do I want to serve today?
I feel so amazing after I finish my morning routine. Heck, it’s afternoon now as I write this, and I’m so energized I want to do my morning routine again!
One of the most powerful things you can do is take a spiritually-aligned approach to designing your life and morning routine. I would love to help you design your morning routine and life so that you can continue to grow and evolve every day, and of course, have fun along the way.
