Executive Coaching: You Only Know What You Know

Have you ever worked with an executive coach?  When I first spoke with my client Brian, he had never worked with a coach before but was willing to try it out.

After we worked together for a few months, he wrote this heartfelt testimonial, and I’m excited to share what he had to say:

“I initially didn’t understand or comprehend the need for an executive coach. But as the old saying goes, ‘you don’t know what you don’t know.’ Pam gave me a different point of view. With her help, I was able to recognize where I could improve myself. I found balance in my work and home life. During my time with Pam, I was required to make a very difficult decision on my career and family. With her help, the transition was much easier than I thought it would be.  Pam was able to bring a lot of relevant knowledge to our sessions and I highly recommend her.”

I love that he said, “You don’t know what you don’t know.”   It really speaks to his awareness that there is so much knowledge and insight beyond what we already know.  Unless we’re constantly seeking out new ideas and new ways of doing things, we’re going to cap our potential.

We all have blind spots and areas where we need to improve, and realizing that is the first step to making changes.  And we can’t always recognize it on our own;  we often need mentors to offer different perspectives.

It’s natural for leaders to want to make a huge impact, but it’s important to remember that the impact we can make is limited, unless we’re growing and stretching in new ways.

My coaching isn’t just about maximizing productivity and sharpening focus inside the office.  It’s about taking a holistic approach, where we focus on all aspects of your life, in and out of the office.

Here’s a brief overview of some of the core elements of my Authentic Leadership coaching:

  • Investing in Yourself
  • Relationships
  • Decision-making
  • Core Values
  • Mindset/Emotional Health
  • Communication

We cover so many more topics, and there’s really no way to list them all.  I believe that our life experiences are our best teachers, and that said, I’ve designed my coaching to be very organic, reflective and responsive to what’s going on in your life.

We look at what you’re struggling with, where you’re stressed, where you’re getting in your own way, and where you need fresh ideas and perspectives, and come up with an individualized plan for success in all areas of your life.

If you’re considering coaching now or in the future, I’d love to chat with you.  Bring me an area of your life where you’d like to improve and I’ll give you some ideas. Grab a time here.
